Morning 172 - Video;

<sub>[ Kirk had woken up alone that morning, been fed by a trickster god, and then promptly decided on a very long walk home. It had taken him by some rather scenic routes, and he had time to think, about a lot of things. He wasn't sure what pulled his mind back to Katniss, but maybe it was the thoughts of people he knew, people with the same faces and same names and different memories.

Or maybe it was the woods and the farms. Either way, it had him reaching up and sending a message, remembering a girl he had met days before and had to let her and her cat walk away. ]</sub>

Hey, uh, this is Kirk. We met a few days ago, remember? I just wanted to see how you were doing, settled in okay and everything. If you get this, give me a call back, yeah?

Morning 172 - Voice;

[littlecatnip]

[It's that man again. She doesn't answer immediately. Once she sees the video, she stares at her glasses. She doesn't remember him, despite what Kirk says. Despite what he knows. How could he have met her anywhere else?

None of this makes sense, but she's had time to come to terms with how impossible of a situation they're all in. When she replies, it's through voice only and about half an hour later.]

Yeah, I remember meeting you. I'm fine. I... found my housing. [In case, you know, he's wondering.]

_{[ He can deal with this. He needs to wash his face anyways, he's probably not as presentable as he wishes he looked. ]}

That's good. Hope it was easy enough for you. It can all be a bit confusing in the beginning, I know.

I had some help. [There's a small pause, a deep breath before she continues speaking.] Were you telling the truth before? About knowing me?

Yes.

_{[ It's a simple word, but said with force of conviction. ]}

I did know you - a you. I'm not sure if it's the same you and you forgot or not, but I did know you. We were friends, in Luceti. You were going to teach me how to hunt because I am hopeless on a frontier, and you had my back in some sticky situations. I was sad, when you left.

I don't know how... [She trails off there because none of this makes sense. What's one more thing to add to the list?]

She told you everything?

I think she told me a lot, but she didn't want to talk about some things and I didn't press her. Figure when she felt up to it, she would. Don't know if she ever would have, since she left.

I really just know the things I told you about when I first saw you.

I see. [It's strange knowing a man that somehow met her and knew so much. Is he trustworthy? If what he says is true, some version of her thought so.]

I don't know anything about you except your name.

Well, I am willing to correct that, if you want.

Ask me anything and I'll answer you honestly. Seem fair?

_{[ He scuffed his boot as he walked, hands tucked into his pocket, glad these things were hands free. ]}

[Where to even start? She's sitting and her hands are clasped together in front of her as she settles on something to ask.]

You know about mine, so... Do you have any family?

Well, it's probably not what you're expecting.

My dad died when I was born, my mom wasn't around much, my Uncle was a dick, so my family is really my crew on my ship - Spock, Bones, Chekov, Sulu, Uhura, Scotty. We're a team and they look out for me and I look out for them.

Sorry, I didn't realize... [That's something they have in common to an extent.] Are any of them here?

No, not in the way I want them to be.

_{[ Whiskey looked like Bones and shared his name, but he wasn't really Bones, was he? He was Whiskey and that was a hard thing to accept and process. ]}

[He can't see her, but she's nodding in understanding. These glasses are going to take a bit of getting used to still.]

Only one person from home is here and he can barely be around me.

Peeta, right?

_{[ Yeah, he'd met him, and he hadn't been to happy when he'd mentioned Katniss. The guy had a serious chip on his shoulder about her, gotten seriously pissed when he wouldn't see it his way. ]}

Yeah, Peeta. [A beat, then:] You've met him?

Yup. When he first got here.

He was in the other place I was in for a little bit, but I didn't really talk to him much to be honest, and then he got sent home.

_{[ They hoped it was home. It's what everyone told themselves. ]}

He's, uh... got a lot of opinions.

[littlecatnip]

Yeah. It's not his fault. The Capitol hurt him. [Because of me. It's unspoken, but her words are laced with an edge of guilt that she hasn't been able to escape.]

It's not my place to say, but it's not his fault he's like that.

I'll try to keep that in mind next time I talk to him. I figured whatever had happened, it wasn't pretty.

_{[ But then, nothing about her world sounded nice or pretty. ]}

None of it was. [There's not much else to say about that and she doesn't want her thoughts to linger on that for any longer.]

You're in charge of a ship?

[universal_charm]

Yeah. Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, of Star Fleet. Newest in the line. I became her Captain about four or so years ago - counting the time I've spent in Luceti.

[littlecatnip]

Star Fleet? Is that only a name or...? [There's hovercraft in her world, but traveling among the star isn't something she's ever heard of.]

Nope, it's pretty literal. I go out and explore the universe, searching for new planets and scientific discoveries, and rendering aid to those who call for it.

[Give her a moment, she needs to wrap her brain around this. She's not sure if she should be impressed or skeptical.]

People can do that where you're from?

Yup. We're allies with quite a few other worlds, and Star Fleet is made up of applicants from all these worlds. We go through an Academy, and those who pass get assigned to ships that go out and complete the mission of Star Fleet, exploring the final frontier.
